|Subject: El Camino and the Middle ages too...|
Dear Jodi, there are a lot of web pages dealing with el Camino, i.e.
there is a lot of information there.
You will find in their menu answers to most of your questions they have
one page called: Modern Day walker or pilgrim....
We were recently in Santiago and it was awesome !! It is indeed touching
to put your hand in the hand shaped depression in the stone as thousands
of pilgrims did before you ....
I believe that if you wish to do the Camino nowadays everything is quite
organized , there are oficial bureaus along the way so you can document
your pilgrimage and among other things............ much more important
of course, be entitled to your free meals at the Hostal de los Reyes Catolicos....
Have you read Paulo Coelho Pilgrimage?...this book although a little fantastic is fascinating. I love history and in particular the Middle Ages, a period of history plagued with misinformation.... For one the rol of women during the Middle Ages has been so ill reported by historians mostly men for a long, long time , Do you agree? ..
We were recently in Santiago and Leon as I mentioned , let me just tell you one thing the Camino is really rough, lot of hills .....and rainy, rainy weather... Nevertheless . I am sure you will do it .. Good luck. Graziella
