As I've read the responses to your query, it's brought back great
memories of the weekends we spent in Maine last summer. Our favorite
spot to stay turned out to be historic York Beach. There are several
beautiful old homes right on the water that are B &B's. We spent one
night in a corner room overlooking the ocean, and thoroughly enjoyed a
booming thunderstorm in the middle of the night! York Beach reminds me
of the beaches I enjoyed as a child in the 50's. It boasts a great old
taffy shop, and we had one of the best lobster rolls of our trip at a
little beachside shack. Just down the road is Brown's ice cream shop,
set on a huge rock by the road - mouth-watering! And close by is one of
Maine's most picturesque lighthouses - Nubble Point.
Makes me want to go back!!
