Telluride in October. Beautiful! The aspens will be turning red, orange &
yellow while the pines and firs will be deep green. It is an incredibly
beautiful contrast. If you get a chance drive the San Juan Skyway. You'll
see the beauty of the Dolores River (look for Bald Eagles in the
cottonwoods), the various passes (Red Mountain, Molas, and Lizard Head), the
hot springs of Ouray, the panoramic view from the Dallas Divide. In
Telluride hike up to Bridalveil Falls(keep an eye out for the
whistlepigs[marmots]) and also the trail to Bear Creek. Outside of Telluride
there's Alta Lakes and the high mountain town of Ophir.
Try Baked in Telluride for breakfast, Sofia's for Mexican, &the Steaming Bean for a good cup of joe. Have a cold one at the Last Dollar Saloon (make it a Bud, ordering a Coors is a sure sign you're a tourist) and for a snack have the nachos at the Floradora.
Tell everyone hi! I'll be there in December.
