Last year our starting point was in Shannon. Then we were going along
the coast until we reached the northest point of Rep. of Ireland (Malin
Head) and then alos made a one-day-trip to Northern Ireland.
Our route (September 1998)and places worth to see: Dingle: great view from the Connor Pass, Slea Head and the Blasket Island Muckross House: near Killarney, beautiful house and public park. Rock of Cashel: old abbey (you can see it one every guided tour through Ireland) Cliffs of Moher: a lot of tourist The Burren: Aillwee Cave(stalactite cave) Connemara: There you can make a nice walk through the Connemara N.P. or climb one of the Twelve Pins; worth to visit is also the Kylemore Abbey. Achill Island: There we had no luck with the wheather - it was raining. Foxford: little town near Ballina - guided tour through a Tweed-factory Donegal: worth to visit are the Cliffs of Slieve League - a high of 600m or approx. 1800feet Errigal Mountain: nice walk, and a great view from the top. Dunree Head (Inishowen): old Fort, also used through the 2nd world war Griahan of Aileach: old Stone Fort, near Derry (Londonderry). Bushmills: located in Northern Ireland; there you can visit the Bushmills Distillery (worth to make a guided tour) and the Giant's Causeway.
