Subject: Re: Rome flea market
The flea market in Rome is at Porta Portese, in the Trastevere area, reasoning from the center of town on the other side of the Tevere river, south of the Vatican. My wife and I visit Rome yearly and go to Porta Portese every time. We find it an experience in itself. You can meet all of Rome there, from the super rich to the super poor, plus lots of immigrants from especially Africa and Eastern Europe. Because of the market's popularity, the nicer items probably cost more than their actual value. In the cheaper items range there are lots of bargains, such as an endless supply of fancy Italian shoes with minor flaws. I can recommend it. Don't forget to bargain and watch for pickpockets.
