So glad to know you lived in Madras, now called Chennai. We are going on a long educational trip with the University of Pittsburgh next month and will be in India for 5 days. The first 4 days will be spent with the organized group visiting Agra, The Taj Mahal, Dehli, and Varanasi.

My husband and I will have one more day in which to be in India and, as we will be docked in Madras, I was wondering if you can tell us of places to go in that city where we will see interesting things. It would be nice to not get on a bus or a train or a plane and just get the feel of a new place.
