|Subject: Tricountry trip|
Hello everyone! My wife and I are arriving Basel on Oct. 1 via Swissair
from Newark ( great rate of 330 dollars RT plus tax :yes, round trip!).
This low fare has somewhat dictated where we are starting our vacation
but we enjoy letting things happen to some extend. I have just now booked
a room in Mulhouse France @ the Hotel Bristol for 51 dollars/nite for
This vist to a small town should see us out of jet lag and State-side
stresses. Next day we shall drive to Lyons for the weekend and my 60th
Our next stop wiill be Annecy for 1-2 days then Chamonix for 1-2 days then Aosta, Italy for 1 day. Off to Locarno or Lugano or both. Here am confused and need suggestions as to best see the lake areas. We saw Lake Como for 1 day last year. Before we cut back across Switz. (a tentative route of Interlaken, Bern,Basel) to catch a Sunday flight on Oct.17 will I have time to go to Trieste and Piran for 3-days? The map shows a super hiway and 440 km so looks like a 5 hr drive --is this correct?. We have seen Northern Italy in some detail by train for 3 different trips so can drive by Padova Venezia Verona with out angst. Any one with centrally located hotels ,BB's or rooms or homes in these areas would love to hear from u. Also comment to my questions as above would be appreciated. I will writeup my trip for everyone when I return. Chow.
