|Subject: Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Taos and Las Vegas|
I highly recommend a stop in Chimayo, New Mexico on the high road
between Santa Fe and Taos. Visit the chapel, the Spanish rug weaving
shops (with demos) especially Ortega's and have a meal at Restaurante
Rancho de Chimayo. I also stayed at their 7-room inn (Hacienda
Rancho de Chimayo) for two nights with a Spanish colonial style room
with kiva fireplace.
Outside of Santa Fe I had a great day at Bandelier National Monument roaming the Indian ruins, hiking the trails and climbing up to the ceremonial cave. Beautiful area.
In Taos make sure and visit Taos Pueblo.
The old gold trail through towns like Madrid from Albuquergue to Santa Fe is great for artisan shops with more reasonable prices than on the plaza in Santa Fe itself. Cynthia Kilian Woodstock, Illinois USA
