|Subject: Dining cheaply|
we have a place in France, I can't speak for the rest of Western Europe.
The best ways we have found to dine cheaply in France are:
1. Avoid the tourist centres. 2. Look for the busy cafe/bars, if the locals eat there it's going to be good. 3. Eat 'Plat du Jour'. 4. Avoid taking your main meal in the evening, the French go for an evening meal on 'special occasions' so the prices go up.
A bit further afield try the Czech Republic north-east of Prague. First it's beautiful, second you can get a good steak and salad for around $5, third the beer's the best in the world. Try Urquell Pilsner. No, I don't have shares in the brewery.
Pete, in England.
