|Subject: Trip to Greece|

We just returned from a wonderful visit to Greece. Flew to Thessaloniki with a group from Precept Ministries on a tour called Paul's Epistle Study Tour. We stayed at the Makedonia Hotel and toured Thessaloniki, Ancient Philippi, Berea. This hotel is not for budget minded. Do not know the cost, because it was included in tour. Our favorite treat (besides all the wonderful greek food, fruits, and vegetables) was iced coffee float.
On the 4th day we traveled toward Athens, passed Mt. Olympus, and checked into the Intercontinental Hotel in Athens. The food was superb, never ate so many different cheeses and olives. We toured the city (rather smoggy) and then to Ancient Corinth, crossing over the Corinth Canal. We had lunch at a restaurant on the canal. The low bridge we crossed over at that point was the type that was lowered into the water for boats to pass by. The other bridges were very high up from the water.
The 7th day we went on the Aegean Sea on the cruise ship Aegean I, and sailed for three days, stopping at Mykonos (great shopping), Patmos (where John wrote The Revelations), and the beautiful island of Rhodes. We enjoyed shopping in the walled city at Rhodes and toured also the pretty little village of Lindos. Then on to Kusadasi, Turkey which is a short distance from the ancient city of Ephesus. The restoration there is outstanding.
Arriving back in Athens, we toured Mars Hill (Aeropagus) and the Acropolis and Parthenon. Our Greek tour guide, Andy, was very knowlegeable, and spoke excellent English.
At each of places where the Apostle Paul had taught, our leader, Kay Arthur, led in bible teachings.
Although this was a planned tour, it was enjoyable and very inspirational. The only drawback was lack of restrooms (WCs) for such a large crowd. The food was excellent, the people were friendly and helpful. It would be a great country to visit alone as a couple, rent a car and travel all over. Prices are good and our dollar is very good at this time.
We're thinking of Costa Rica next. Any comments on what to see there? Letha &Charlie Griffin
