Jackie,
I'm a travel agent as well as a fellow Zine member, so I looked at
one of the travel industry publications that is my bible in this work - the
STAR guide. It tells it like it is, in my experience. Here's (an extract) of what it says
about the two hotels you inquired about:
EL CONQUISTADOR WYNDHAM RESORT AND COUNTRY CLUB: 780 rooms, rated 5-Star Deluxe. ...atop a cliff at the northeastern tip of the island, overlooking both the Atlantic and the Caribbean, 33miles east of San Juan, remains the largest tourist development in PR. RITZ CARLTON SAN JUAN HOTEL AND CASINO: 419 rooms, rated 4 star deluxe. ...is the hotel closest to the airport - almost under the glide path - is the all-American with mere hints of the tropics. The classic Ritz-Carlton design would be right at home in Kansas City, but for those who appreciate Ritz service, Ritz style, and Ritz comfort, this is an oasis on an island where the only consistency is inconsistency. Hope this is helpful for you. Sally Watkins, CTC |
