|Subject: Re: Ireland Trip|
I spent 9 days in Ireland last August - most of the time was taken up with my son's baseball schedule (his team was the FIRST ever American team to be hosted by the Irish National team in Dublin). Because of the size of the group, we stayed in hotels, but there are plenty of B&B's and hostels all over Ireland. We did, however, take a 2 day excursion to the west coast and am definitely going back some day to spend more time in Galway, Shannon areas - GORGEOUS! THe beach at Lahinch was a nice stop for lunch # would have been nice to spend the day there. Don't miss the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren - while you are in the area, I recommend a stop or even overnite in Doolin, a little picturesque farm and seaside town with 3 famous pubs (O'Connor's, McGann's and can never think of the other one; someone out there on the travelzine will probably know it). There are a couple of little gift stores, a small golf course (pitch and putt - practically right among the cows in the pasture), several B&B's, lots of cows. There is also a ferry to the Aran Islands which I will definitely try to get to NEXT TIME - friends of ours have pictures - beautiful!
