I wouldn't suggest Cinqueterre for anyone who has a problem walking - or
climbing steps. Not only is being able to walk some of the path between the
towns one the major pleasures of being in the area, there are no rental cars
allowed in the small towns and you are dependent on trains and feet. My
guess is that your mom would have a difficult time getting to any lodging you
chose in one of the small villages, might have trouble getting up and down
stairs in same, and would be unable to participate in daytime activities in
the area with you.
Provence would be great, but I would plan for a different second area to visit.
