Subject: Bavarian towns?
Dear Erina, I'm very partial to Berchesgarten. It's only an hour from Munich via the Autobahn (we should be so fortunate to have such good roads and considerate drivers). Not only is it picturesque but offers so much to do in nearby areas. first you're less than an hour from Salzberg so a day trip is very easy. Then of course, the famous Eagle's Nest is located here (the bus tour up the mountain is thrilling), the view from the mountaintop awesome and very educational. A must is the Konigsee, one of the most pristine lakes in Germany. The electric boat trip across the lake, with a stop at Royal Hunting Lodge (have lunch at the outdoor cafe) and shopping in the lakeside town is a great way to spend a day. And a trip to the Salt Mines is a must! Especially the ride down the wooden slide! If this sounds like what you're looking for and would like more info, contact me. Best regards, Jo PS Dinkelsbuhl is also well worth a visit, very quaint but 1 or 2 nights there would be enough (it's just a short drive to Rothenberg au Tauber - one of the most typical towns in Bavaria, but much less expensive).
