Subject: Sevilla hotel, others in Andalucia?
Hi, Joel. I am afraid I am not going to be of great help regarding this question. My only time in Andalucia was 20 years ago, and that was an apartment in Almuņecar, in the Granada coast. Right now we intend to visit Sevilla in September (hope itīs not very hot), and I am checking hotels. I have a couple of URLs (see below). Sevilla on Line (they are having a few nice offers lately) (a bit modern, but I think the Macarena deserves a look)

My mum went to Sevilla two years ago in a bus tour (great itinerary, Toledo, Cordoba, Sevilla, Granada and Cuenca). They stayed at a hotel in Santa Cruz, called Alfonso XI. She says that the location was great, but not so much the service and that the breakfast was awful. Mum is not very sure right now of wanting to stay in Santa Cruz (she says that as there is no lack of public transportation, we could think of other places to stay), because she doesnīt feel very safe there. A couple of months after their stay, a spanish tourist was stabbed and killed during a mugging, and I guess thatīs the reason she is not very happy with Santa Cruz. Although she liked Sevilla very much, not so much as Cordoba, but she liked it.

Have you thought about staying in Triana across the river?

I am afraid Iīm messing around with my english. Hope you understand me, but it must be Monday... Iīll go on tomorrow thinking about places to stop in the way up. Right now I am thinking about Consuegra and the windmills, or going up the old Silver Trail, from Andalucia to Asturias, get to Merida (old roman ruins, great), stay in Caceres (walled and well-preserved old town) or Trujillo (hometown of Pizarro, you will understand why they went and conquered the Inca empire, I guess there wasnīt much to do back then, but now you have a few good palaces), and up through the N-V to Madrid...
