|Subject: Les Pyrénées|
My wife and I will be making our first trip to this region in late March and early April. And we'll be traveling in your style, cheaply, by car, without reservations. We'll be coming from Barcelona up to Carcassone then heading back across the Pyrenees into Spain. Originally, I thought we'd cross back through Andorra and catch a day of skiing along the way. Afterwards we'll be headed through Aragon to Jaca and then on into the Basque Country. Now, I'm thinking of staying on the French side and crossing at either the Bielsa Tunnel (after skiing at Piau-Engaly or St. Lary) or the Col du Pourtalet (if it's open) or the Col du Somport and then skiing at Candanchú or El Formigal.
Any thoughts on these crossing points? Also any suggestions for places to stay, villages we must visit, etc. would be appreciated.
