Subject: Re: solo travel in Thailand
My husband and I have made two trips to Thailand, but they were both several years ago (1991 and 1992). Both times we travelled independently and had no problems. The first trip was a combined trip with Indonesia and so we only visited Bangkok and the surroundings. On the second trip we travelled to Chaing Mai by train, then back to Sukoborder with Laos. We returned to Bangkok and then went south to Sukhothai and on to Nong Khai by bus. After that we took the train back to Bangkok and continued on to Koh Samui, Krabi, Koh Lanta, Phi Phi Island and Phuket before flying back to Bangkok. We found travelling in Thailand very easy. The bus system is good and we had no trouble finding suitable accommodation. The country is well set up for independent travellers (especially budget ones).
