|Subject: The Dharmanwangsa, Jakarta|
I just did a quick trip to Jakarta and have found a good reason to go back : The Dharmanwangsa
A small hotel of 100 rooms and suites situated in the residential area of Kebayoran Baru (very upscale) about 20 minutes from the financial district, this hotel is a real gem. No traffic jams at the front door, this place feels more like the home of a rich friend rather than a hotel. The decor is rather modern but homely with objects d'art littered around the hotel. The rooms are huge, thought just a little smaller than the Regent's but way ahead of the Grand Hyatt and Shangri-la. Decorated in an uncluttered style, the rooms are bright, airy, and all have a private balcony that either overlooks the gardens or the houses across the road. Servicewise, it is up with the rest of the city hotels but I guess the Indonesians are generally nice people and very obliging. Facilities in the hotel includes a full service spa, 2 restaurants, a cigar &cognac lounge (yes, this place is cigar firendly), a lobby loungs and a patiserie.
All these do not come cheap, being priced along with the major city hotels, The Dharmanwangsa is certainly a reson to come to Jakarta, and if you HAVE to be in Jakarta, this hotel would certainly make it easier........
