In the Rockies I highly recommend Emerald Lake as a place to stop, walk around the lake and have a great meal in the dining room of the lodge (pricey - but superb). It's not quite as touristy as Lake Louise and very beautiful (if a little smaller). To stay at the lodge is expensive but in 1997 I stayed at a newly built set of chalets just east of Emerald Lake, just before you get to Field, BC - near the highway but on the road that goes up to Takkakaw Falls. The Falls, too, are a worthwhile stop. I can't remember the name but - shall hunt to see if I have it somewhere (or will scan the Net a bit).

Do you mean Cathedral Mountain Lodge &Chalet? http://www.cathedralmountain.com/ We stay there in 1999. It was beautiful. We would recommend this place !!
