I think perhaps it is too much to try to do both Kenya and Tanzania in
one safari trip. We were very happy concentrating on Tanzania for 2 1/2
weeks two years ago and actually thoroughly enjoyed the long, dusty drives,
probably because the three of us in our LandRover had such a terrific
driver/guide (John Urio of Thomson Safaris); he pointed out so much bird,
plant and wildlife that we would have otherwise missed, told us about
his own village and his family and his people, told us about Tanzanian
history, and lots about current situations in E. Africa that we were intrigued
the whole time and time flew by and we scarcely noticed the dust and bumps.
In fact, I think we would have missed so much had we flown from place
to place. This African experience will remain, I am sure, our most memorable
trip for many reasons. Cheers, Pat in Baltimore
