|Subject: something to think about...|
I had an eye opening experience planing our next trip to Europe that must
teach all of us a lesson:
When making a reservation in Torino, I realized that there was a congress during those days, every single well known hotel was full, that is how I came to book at Hotel Due Mondi ( 3 *) , it was the first choice in Frommers latest edition of ITALY under Moderate accomodations and also was included in Italy, Eyewitness Travel Guide. This was the report: ...this little hotel in near the top for those seeking old -fashioned yet affordable grace. Everything is smartly outfitted, often in dark patterns and woods.....and so forth..
Thanks God that Simona a fellow Ziner who leaves in Torino has been so nice and kind as to check the hotel personally and her opinion was not to go there, to cancell my reservation,!!!! among other things because of the location. The 2 Torri is near the Termini, and while there are several nice acceptable hotels near the Termini , the ambiance can easily change within a block.
Were the guide books wrong?/...not a the time the hotel was included in their list, but they obviously failed to check all the informatiion,it can be the last edition but some facts can be out dated.
On the other hand the guide books often miss to report about new hotels, and about old hotels being remodeled....what to do? When you do not have first hand information check if possible with a local, and the Travelzine seems to work fantastically well for this purpose. It did worked for me thanks to Simona, I have no words to thank her, the only thing I can add: I will gladly do the same for any one coming to Miami Beach, South Beach....Graziella Miami Beach
