Subject: Re: Cell phones and calls to and from Europe

A cell or mobile phone can be called from any normal phone system. Cell phones work off either a digital or analog system, which is where the incompatibility comes in. For instance, with my digital cell phone I can take it and use it in the UK, but cannot use it in the States, as the States uses the analog system. When I go to the States therefore, I have to hire an analog cell phone over there, so that I can make and receive calls.

So if you bring your analog cell phone from the States to Australia, you won't be able to use it with our digital network..
