Subject: South Africa |
Marco,
My husband has finally finished his account of our trip to South Africa from
last September to November. At present he is editing it and then it will be
available. I will be happy to send it as an attached Word document to
anyone on the list who is interested. It is thirty pages long, so I can
only post it to the list in sections.
To answer your questions: 1. There are lots of places to visit on the routes you have chosen. We really enjoyed the Tsitsikamma National Park (East of Knysna) and wished we could have spent longer in that area. 2. We were advised that the road between Port Elizabeth and Durban is not that safe for motorists so we chose to fly that route. I have not been to East London so can't say what it is like. 4. We enjoyed our three-day visit to the Natal Drakensburg Park. We stayed at the rest camp at Giant's Castle, but there are other alternatives. You would definitely need a car to get there as I don't think there is any public transport (other than minibuses which are supposed to be unsafe). Let me know if you have other questions. I haven't heard from Petro Kemp and I doubt that Maans' email address is available anymore. If you get to Port Elizabeth you should visit Addo Elephant Park (you'll need a car for this). Ann |
