Subject: Venice to Ancona
Sorry but the ferries departing from Venice to the Mediterranean don't stop at Ancona, nor there's any coastal boat service in that area. If you're going by road you can skip Bologna by taking the SS Romea from Venice to Ravenna, very interesting as it is the old road of pilgrims going to Rome but with heavy traffic, and then join the SS Adriatica which runs all the way south to Ancona and further. P.S. SS means Strada Statale, i.e. State Road.

Have a nice planning.
