Subject: Me too |
My deepest apologies for sounding harsh. I include
myself among the travel snobs. Some of us certainly
refers to me, too. I want to be clear in expressing that I
was disappointed with the overall response to the Ziner that
asked for help with an all-inclusive. I did not mean to
single out any particular response, but I do see where I
certainly stepped over that line and I publicly apologize.
But let me go on to say this: I have no problem with anyone who reports on a negative experience at a travel destination. I think this is one of the things that Ziners do for one another. I do, however, have a problem with negative or positive generalizations. (As I learned from the Northern Italian thread....) If I had a bad experience at a hotel, in say, Greece, I don't think it would be responsible of me to warn others away from Greece. I hope that I would name the specific hotel that I was disappointed in, and tell why, leaving others to judge if my criteria matched their own. I was hoping that our Ziner would get some responses such as the one John sent her. I'm glad she did. Again, my apologies for singling out a specific response. And again, I think we as a group do this kind of thing (advise people that their own plans and inclinations are mistakes) way too often, and I for one would like to see us be more considerate of the needs of the novice traveller. That's my stand and for now, anyway, I'm sticking to it. Yikes! Debbie |
