Subject: Re: Spain- mostly Pyrénées II
Just want to give info for any gourmets or anyone who wants to splurge a bit. We drove from Paris to Biarritz (with many stops along the way) and then over to San Sebastian. In San Sebastian is a restaurant named ARZAK which is acclaimed as the best restaurant in Spain. Some say best restaurant in Europe!!!! Whatever, but it is FANTASTIC. Highly recommend same and be sure and have the chocolate cake (a 100 yr-old recipe) from this family owned restaurant that has passed on its expertise etc from its origins over a century old. The current owner/chef is the cute grandaughter of the founder. Maybe it's the great-granddaughter....

If you have the time (and a few bucks) go for the 9 to 12 course lunch/dinner which includes everything (chocolate cake too) you could possibly love and enjoy. And be sure and go hungry......

BTW, it is not a stuffy and arrogant place.....very warm and friendly.....
