Bring good walking shoes a small fold-up umbrella and a tip...
(works for me)
At EMS or REI or other good sporting goods store, I purchased a small all-nylon day pack that folds into a fanny pack (all black) It holds my passport, film, airline tickets and valuables, plus water and a guide bk., etc. It can be carried all day w/o hurting shoulders and I have taken it (because it is black and unobtrusive) into fine restaurants at night (although I don't wear it as a back pack for dinner... ) The one I have is made by Eagle Creek Gear - but I don't think they make it anymore.
As for exhibits, there are wonderful Paris sites on the Net that will give you that info. Unfortuntely, I don't have them bookmarked anymore. Or, try the individual museums for their exhibits.
Buy a carnet (10 metro tickets at a time - cheaper) - and see if you can get a museum pass (gives you entry into most of the major museums - I think it's cheaper, but also, I think it permits you to enter w/o waiting in line) either here at any Fr. Nat. Tourist office or at the main Tourist Information office on the Champs Elyssee - Have a great trip.
