|Subject: Re: planning trip to Provence|
I would plan on going in the fall and traveling by car. Most of the quaint
little villages are best reached by auto. Some of my favorites are Gordes,
Roussillon, Les Baux, St. Remy, Fontvieille and L'Isle sur la Sorgue. Each
town has a unique story and beauty.
L'Isle sur la Sorgue is the center for antique country french furniture. Buyers come from all over France to buy antiques. I was there on a Saturday or Sunday and they had a great flea market -- particularly impressive were the beautiful linens and silver, but they had much, much more. It really helps if you speak French because they will bargain with you. Near Nimes and the Pont du Gard (west of Avignon) was a small town called Uzes. It was lovely. I will be going again in October and look forward to seeing some other beautiful cities. They are endless in this area! I understand St. Paul de Vence near Nice is another winner.
Have a great trip. Let me know if you have any other questions.
