Subject: RE: Request for info on Ottawa, Quebec City and Montreal |
Hi, Ann. One of Peter's favourite hangouts when he lived in Ottawa was
Flipper's (on the
corner of Bank and 4th Ave.), a seafood restaurant (they also have some
other stuff). His
other suggestions are:
Al's Steakhouse (on Elgin St.) - good steaks, price range medium-high Colonade (on James St., corner of Metcalfe) - for good pizza Yang Tze or Fuli-Wah (both on Somerset, across from each other, 1 block west of Bronson) - for good Chinese food California Grill (on Clarence, in the Byward Market) - for a variety of different kinds of food Good Italian restaurant on George St., on the corner of Sussex (but Peter doesn't remember the name) Claire du Lune (on Clarence) - nouvelle cuisine My suggestion: Dunn's (on Elgin between Cooper and Lisgar) - I've never actually eaten there, but there was a Dunn's in Montreal (which unfortunately closed down in the last year) with the best smoked meat sandwiches around. If the Dunn's in Ottawa is anything like the Dunn's in Montreal was, then it's worth checking it out. My suggestions for restaurants in Montreal are: Bar-B-Barn (on Guy Street) for the best ribs you've ever tasted. Be prepared to stand in line to get in (but it's worth it!) There are lots of good restuarants in Old Montreal - I used to like The Keg for good steaks and salad bar, but I haven't been there in many years. Hope this helps. Laurie in Mexico City |
