Subject: Cairns Recommendation
We have twice stayed at the Palm Royale Cairns, and been very happy there both times. The first time was in 1996 when we were the first guests in our lovely room--it had just opened. We stayed there again two years later. The rooms--in a circle--all face inward to two beautiful pools, gorgeously landscaped, with a large waterfall and plenty of room for swimming and lounging. There are open air restaurants as well as inside ones. The service was very good with excellent tour-planning services for those who wanted day trips. A shuttle runs into town every hour. There is a guest laundry. We especially recommend rooms on 2nd or 3rd levels overlooking the pool with the spa and waterfall. 7-11 Chester Court, Cairns, Queensland, Australia 4870 Phone 070-322-700; fax 070-322-800; e-mail proyale (some of these may have changed--they are from 1996). Each stay we did two things we love: 1)to to Port Douglas and take the Quicksilver Catamaran out to Agincourt Reef for a day of snorkeling and diving; 2) take the Champagne Balloon Flights sunrise flight over the Atherton Tablelands--magnificent! (They pick you up during the wee hours of the morning at your hotel). Hope this helps. Pat and Bill in Baltimore
