Subject: trip planning for central Italy |
This year's planning done (we're leaving for 3 1/2 weeks the middle of
August) it's time to start planning our Italian trip 2001. Our plan is: fly
Miami/Milan, pick up car at airport and drive to Lake Garda--3 nights; drive
to the vicinity of Assisi where we will rent a small apartment--7 nights:
drive to the vicinity of Siena where we will rent a small apartment--7
nights; drive to Cinque Terra--3 nights; drive to Lake Como--3 nights; back
to Milan (drop off car)--nights; Milan/Miami. My husband and I like the idea
of 2 weeks total between Tuscany and Umbria. This will give us the
opportunity to do day trips and always be able to come HOME. We have settled
on the two apartments but my question is if we should plan the trip in May,
June or September. The last time we were in Italy it was August and aside
from everyone being on vacation, the bugs in the country side were fierce.
This time we're hoping for warm sunny days and cool nights. Cool nights to
keep the bugs low, especially with no screens. Any help and advice from the
group is appreciated!
