Callie - would you consider stopping in one of our favorite Inns in Bath,
Maine? There are two of the most fabulous beaches near bath: Popham and
Reid State Park -- both sandy and Popham has stretches where you can walk for
miles!
http://www.innatbath.com/ Have a look-see - We stay there in the River room (our favorite) and the room that has it's own entry on the driveway where you leave your car (both have wonderful appointments antiques and such with great bathrooms, and wood-burning fireplaces! -- If you go, don't take the one w/ the hot tub as it's a bit claustrophobic... (although you may want the tub) -- There is another room w/ it's own private entrance, but it enters from the road and is not as pretty!!! Let me know - Nick, the Inn Keeper is a dear and so is Barb, his manager -- real New Englanders. We go a great deal as they take dogs and we bring Emma to romp on the beaches in the winter! Also there is a terrific Inn in Camden -- Norumbega - quite expensive in the summer, but georgeous -- more formal than the Inn at Bath - but wonderful views of the Bay! PS Mistake: Woood-burning fireplaces does not mean wood stove! This inn is Greek-Revival by architecture, loads of antiques inside and not rustic - Have fun - Susie Newton, MA |
