Subject: Re toll roads in Italy
French autoroutes also accept credit cards. You'll need one: tolls are outrageously expensive. What would cost you $5 on an interstate might cost you $15 to 25 in France. In France's defense, the autoroutes are excellent; the pavements are smooth and well maintained, and the rest areas generally superior to those in the States. (By the way, Italy's autostrada have perhaps the best rest areas, with Autogrill restaurants, which are excellent.)

Bons voyages!
