Yes it is.
La Pievina - We first read about this small osteria in 1993 and it took
us 5 years to find it, but it was well worth the wait. Plate after plate
of specialties, all based on fish, come streaming from the kitchen like
buckets of water in the Sorcerer#s Apprentice. The food itself is delicious
and is brought in daily from the Mediterranean and prepared by local women.
The portions don#t overwhelm. Fourteen course prix fixe meal with wine
for about $40 per person. Expect to spend a minimum of 3 hours plus for
a meal. It#s about 8 - 10km west of Asciano on the road to Siena - it#s
the only building in town. 0577.718.368 Closed Monday and Tuesday. Our
favorite time to eat here is Sunday at lunch -
Also, the drive South from Asciano to the Abbey at Monte Oliveto is one
of the most striking in the area.
