|Subject: Verona to Florence|
I would highly recommend a stop in Cortona for a day or two. I spent a
week in Cortona in April and loved the town - nice small Etruscan
museum, churches, incredible gelato at Snoopy's (who keeps very strange
hours), a few shops, several nice restaurants, incredible views of the
countryside, easy parking in large free lots outside the walls, easy day
trips to Assisi, Orvieto, Montepulciano, Lago di Trasimeno, Arezzo (take
the train, no parking troubles and very quick) among others.
We stayed at the San Michele, an old converted villa, with comfortable nice rooms and a lovely staff. Since we were around for so long, we got to know them a bit and Margarita and Pino were so helpful. Graziella from Miami has stayed there also, and liked it.
