Hola Guillermo, I didn t understand exactly how many days you had left
after visiting Paris and the Chateaux de la Loire, for this reason I am
going to suggest some places nearby so you do not waist too much time
going from one place to the other.
In the chateaux area my favorites are Azay le Rideau, Chambord, Blois and
also Chenonceaux, nothing too original I am afraid.
On the way from Paris before the chateaux Chartes is a classic visit ,
only one hour and half SW of Paris. Everyone says that Chartes' cathedral
is fantastic, and it is. There is a well known British guide called Malcolm
Miller , who has called the attention of travelzines in previous postings
, if you wish you can arrange ahead of time an appointment for a private
tour, at 02 372l 50 00.The little streets in Chartes are charming and there are many
nice places to eat.
I like to stay in Blois a small city with so much history , the chateaux
with Francois I salamander everywhere , the mystery of the times of Catherine
of Medici, all the intrigues between Henry III and the murdered Duke of
Guise...well I enjoy walking in this smaller than others chateau ....we
stayed there a couple of times staying the last time in a fairly pleasant
modern hotel the Mercure by the river nothing to rave about but it is
ok and has a pool in case it is hot and you wish to refresh yourself after
chateaux hunting.Avoid its restaurant.
Two places not far that I love are the L'Abbaye de Fontevraud , some 300
kms from Paris and also I love Poitiers a middle size city .
It is not easy to recommend one place above others because there are so
many absolutely fascinating places so near one from the other. So may
be if you have more specific questions?... Buen viaje. Graziella Miami
