|Subject: Rome tour bus rule change|
It looks as if Rome will modify the rules about tour buses in the heart of Rome. This information from Paolo Gentiloni, tourist commissioner:
Under the new rules, motorcoaches are still banned from long-term parking within the central area, but they are allowed to pick up and drop off their groups at hotels, and to do the same for sightseeing, using any of a dozen designated short-term stopping areas located close to the primary ancient monuments.
For long-term parking, they will still have to use the remote lots, or one of the private motorcoach parking facilities that have opened recently, but the pickup-and-dropoff operations permitted under the revised rules should satisfy many of the concerns of tour operators, Gentiloni said.
