|Subject: Eating at Alain Ducasse in NY|
Graziella--there was a marvelous restaurant in the Ducasse space that,
although very highly thought of by clientele and critics, did not make it. I
liked the former restaurant (Les Celebrities) a great deal and was sorry
to see it close.
The prices for these trendy places in NYC seem to have no upper limit and are truly getting obscene. At the same time the super trendy places' lofty tariffs are pulling up the prices of other restaurants around the city. The prices must be quite alarming for visitors to NYC from abroad especially given the strong US$. I was in the city today for some shopping and lunch--pan roasted very fresh fish at a very small, wonderful restaurant.
The city was very crowded with visitors strolling about with maps in hand, looking somewhat bewildered by the crowds and traffic. Peter
