Subject: Florence to Turin
There is a EuroStar that leaves Pisa for Turin at 10:09, arriving at 1:30. (My rail schedule is from this spring, so times may have changed just a little.) Pisa is just an hour from Florence and would be a lot easier to deal with than going to Milan. There is also an InterCity that leaves Pisa at 11:23, arriving at 3:35.

Buy your Pisa to Turin tickets in advance - I always use the American Express office when I am in Florence, but any travel agency would do. I find the train station a little harder to deal with, and I speak reasonable Italian.

Have a great trip.
