We have a travel agent and we have found that she knows ways we have never thought of. A couple of years ago she obtained a last minute ticket for my husband at half the market price with a car included and also obtained the the specific hotel he needed when we could not get rooms at that hotel as they were full when we called them.

Some markets have bargains at certain times, and if you are not set on a certain destination you will have a better chance at a good price.

Our travel agent uses consolidators at times--ones she has had good results with and are dependable.
