Subject: Consolidators (was flights to australia)
Hi I read this and was a bit puzzled....

> First call several of the airlines that you think
> you would use and ask them the names of 2 or 3 of
> there consolidators.

Here is what puzzled me: Do airlines actually give the names of their consolidators to customers that call them (the airlines)? I have a hard time believing that.

I have seen a few sources for consolidator information, but I always use the advice of the major guidebooks here in the US. In other words, I buy a Fodor's or Frommer's for my proposed destination, turn to the section in the front of the book that addresses flying to said destination, then read the paragraph on which consolidators the guidebook recommends for that destination.

A good TA usually has some consolidator information, too. But I've never been given any such information by a commercial airline...

Cheers, Debbie
