My $0.02 about Eyewitness Guidebooks: They are beautiful. Great pictures
and good histrorical background. However, they (specifically the books on
Florence, Munich, and Amsterdam) have failed me on critical details such as
locations of Internet cafes (they state that such things exist, but did not
give addresses of any!) and how to use public transportation. I found
Lonely Planet guides much more useful for specific detailed information.
That being said, I still buy the Eyewitness guides (in addition to Lonely Planet) because I find they are much more useful on my second visit to places and they make lovely souveneirs because the photos are so nice.
