I prefer the smaller Reina Sofia Museum, which is more toward downtown
than the Prado. Yes, I was travelling with a group of my Spanish students,
but I have been to many museums throught the US and Europe. Yes, I know
something about art, although I am self-taught, mostly through books and
videos. Since we didn't have a guide, I was the one who pointed out the
periods styles, colors, etc. to my students. Only a handful of us elected
to see the modern works at Reina Sofia, the most famous of which is
Picasso's Guernica. It was a smaller, more intimate museum, and very
under-attended.
