HI I am coming into this very late, because I was out of town, but I suggest that you try Alitalia. Last year, they were offering 99$ one way tickets. It may have been just between Italian cities, I don't know. But I think Venice-Paris is a popular route for them, and they may offer something good.

There have been many postings on the Zine about cheap InterEuropean flights. Try an archives search, and you may come up with something good.
