Subject: Provence/Paris-Solo Traveler- Help! |
Hello everyone,
I'm a a recent retiree, living in Sarasota Florida, who is planning her first solo trip to europe -- about 16 days, split between Provence &Paris at end of May/early June. Have been doing lots of research, but need help from experienced folks. ** Will leave from New York area . Should I focus on getting direct flight, which is only Delta to Nice; getting flight that connects thru Paris (am concerned about missing flight); or staying overnight and taking train? ** Provence -- Want to take 2-3 days of cooking classes and visit local food markets. Anyone familiar with classes at hotel Berard (near toulon) or at La Mirande (Avignon)? Location of classes will impact travel. Any other cooking recommendations? Also want to join small group tour that focuses on arts & antiques, open-air markets, textiles &pottery, history, local culture. Any recommendations?? don't want to do self-drive tour. ** Paris -- Would appreciate recommendation for charming hotel, Left Bank, 2-3 **, comfortable size/amenities ; well located to metro & local shops -- with balcony/view if possible. Time permitting -- am planning side trips to Giverny & Versailles. Worthwhile?? Sorry for long message. Helenb |
