We too lost our toll ticket a few years ago while driving the Autostrada out of Florence heading north. It also blew out the window. The guys in the booth pulled us over to the side and wanted to charge us the full fee. We protested in English and very bad Italian. Finally, they asked where we were from. We replied Minneapolis. They smiled and said, Ahh...Indianapolis! Then proceeded to energetically pantomime driving the race track. We nodded yes and accepted a new toll ticket with no fee. That's how much they love driving in Italy!
