Subject: Barcelona Hotels
We stayed at the Hotel Colon directly opposite the Main Cathedral and the Barri Gothic. It's location was terrific (walking distance to everything!) but should you decide to stay there, a word of advice: we were told my Spanish friends to refuse the first room we were shown, if unacceptable (which it was), and were given a much better room. This, apparently is quite common in this hotel. I don't know if this happens all over.

It's a fantastic city, the Gaudi architecture and the wonderful, small museums are first rate also, Barcelonetta (on the water) is really hopping and has wonderful restaurants. You will love it!
