Subject: Carrying prescription drugs
Marguerite asks about carrying prescription drugs to and from other countries. We always take ours in the original containers from the drugstores AND have our doctors write up new, original prescriptions for the same things, using only generic names, so that if we lose any of the pills, we can get the prescriptions refilled (hopefully) at a drugstore wherever we are. What we are trying to do is be protected two ways: From suspicion of carrying illicit drugs AND from the problems arising from losing a needed medication. When I take groups abroad on the educational tours we lead about once a year, I always have each group member give me copies of their doctors' original prescriptions as an extra precaution.
