I suggest take the night train from London with sleeper. it takes you right to downtown Glasgow or Edinburgh and puts you an a waiting track. They wake you up in the morning at a reasonable hour 7 ish, with coffee or tea and a scone and give you enought time to exit the train before it leaves to return to London. This way you have a overnite bed, arrive in the city of your destination. It can also be done on the reverse. The trains are quite comfortable and you will sleep as well as you would in any other strange bed. The personell on the train couldn't be nicer. I wouldn't miss Edinburgh if I were you. The cost is less than a hotel in London for the nite. dave
