Subject: Re: Gatlinburg area
Oh dear, just my two cents here but I avoid Gatlinburg like the plague, especially in the summer. I grew up not far from there and to be honest, this is the biggest tourist trap in America. What I mean is there are absolutely huge crowds, terrible traffic, and cheap souvenir shops and attractions all over. There are gigantic outlet malls and Dollyworld (country music's newest response to Disneyland). There are the mountains which are beautiful, as long as you are willing to sit in traffic lines for hours at snail's pace crawls. Hiking trails are ant trails. Enough. I believe there are many more attractive places to spend a honeymoon. What is the appeal to your son about Gatlinburg? I am not meaning to be insulting here, just presenting my view. I am sure others may disagree. Rudy in NC
